Blogger of The Month Contest

We're starting fresh! Alpha Theta Phi will be discontinuing the "Blogger Of the Month Contest" until the Fall. However, we're looking at new ways to prize our active bloggers . Please bare with us as we renew our blog. Don't stop Participating! In the mean time, we're looking for Blog Editors; students who want to be active PTK members. Blog editors will be submitting articles, editing postings, interviewing staff and students, assisting with website and blog maintenance, a nd participating in research for this year's Honor Study Topic "The Democratization of Information: Power, Peril and Promise" This is a great opportunity to get involved, explore your talent and gain experience! March Blogger of the Month Sujata Gurung A bright and passionate international nursing student from Nepal with one more year of studies left at LaGuardia Community College who hopes to transfer to Columbia University. Ever since high school, Sujata’s primary concern and passion has been helping others. In her native country, she used to volunteer in orphanages where she was helping in many different ways, including tutoring younger children. After coming to the United States, Sujata—like most of us—was overwhelmed by work and studying, and she found it difficult to find time to volunteer. She stumbled upon our blog and read the story of “How I Got Hooked on Helping Others” which inspired her to seek opportunities. She remembered the exhilarating feeling of helping others and is now determined to get involved in some extracurricular activities. This time, however, she has bigger dreams. Blogger of the Month

Alpha Theta Phi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa announces a brand new competition for the “ Blogger of the Month ” title and a cash prize . All you have to do is log in to our blog and leave as many comments on the posted topics as you wish. You can also e-mail us topics or essays to be posted for some extra credit. At the end of each month, the Alpha Theta Phi officers will select one person who will be awarded the “ Blogger of the Month ” title, t-shirt  and a gift card . The selection criteria are as follows: You must be a current LaGuardia student to participate in the competition. (However, comments from alumni and visitors are encouraged and welcome but won’t be eligible for the title and prize.) You must provide the most comments. Are you a poet? If so, you could be selected to represent LaGuardia College in a national poetry contest and be named LaGuardia's Student Poet Laureate . Click HERE to print out the official entry form and submit it together with your poem to Dr. Kristen Gallagher by February 11th . Put your application in her mailbox in E103 .
