Tips for Officers Who Are Going on Vacation During the Summer and Winter Breaks

by Ross Adler

As officers for PTK, we are allowed to take vacations during the summer and winter breaks. For those who have the opportunity to travel, I definitely recommend doing so because traveling makes you learn about the world around you and it also makes you learn a lot about yourself. That being said, there are a few things that you should remember when taking a vacation.
The first thing to remember is that you can try to do some of the work beforehand. If you are taking an extended vacation, try to make sure that you do as many of your responsibilities as possible before you leave. This ensures that you’ll be able to enjoy your vacation better without having the need to worry about deadlines.
The second thing to remember is that you can read the “minutes” of an official meeting in order to understand what happened and be continuously on the loop. The minutes consist of the highlights of the meeting and other essential things that were tackled and talked about.

Last but not the least, don’t forget that you can still contribute work (for the HIA research during the summer and the Hallmarks Essays during the winter) regardless of where you are in the world as long as you have an internet connection. Your contribution to these components of your position is essential and if it is possible for you to have a reliable internet connection, you should definitely try to set aside some time to work on them.
